If you get married or enter into a legally registered partnership while you are a Pension Fund participant, your partner will be entitled to a partner’s pension.

You do not need to enrol your partner in the Pension Fund for that purpose.

Living together

If you are cohabiting, you can enrol your partner as your partner’s pension beneficiary provided certain requirements are met. The exact requirements are listed in the Regulations. For the enrolment, you can use the form 'Application for partner's pension arrangement':

you are cohabiting and wish to register your partner for the partner's pension arrangement

Am I required to notify the Pension Fund of this?

The municipality automatically notifies the Pension Fund if you reside in the Netherlands and you are getting married or entering into a legally registered partnership. You are not required to notify the Pension Fund of this yourself. However, if you are cohabiting and you wish to enrol your partner as your partner’s pension beneficiary, you do have to notify the Pension Fund yourself.

If you are not resident in the Netherlands, you always have to notify the Pension Fund yourself if you are getting married or start cohabiting.
