Exchange between partner’s pension or retirement pension

You can choose for a different ratio between the retirement pension and the partner’s pension. This is termed ‘exchange’ or ‘conversion’. This will not affect the level of your overall pension entitlement.

You can make a once-only choice to exchange between partner’s pension or retirement pension. You must notify the Pension Fund of your choice no later than 2 months before your deferred pension is scheduled to commence. To that end, the form titled 'Final pension choices' is available.

Exchange of pension

Variable pension: high/low or low/high

You can choose for ‘variable pension’: also called high/low construction. If you opt for exchange, this will not affect the level of your overall pension entitlement. Variable pension enables you to choose a different distribution of your pension benefit over time.

High/low

If you opt for high/low, you receive a higher retirement pension during the first few years of your retirement. You then receive a lower retirement pension after that time.

The opposite is also possible: first temporarily a lower and subsequently a higher retirement pension (low/high). The partner’s pension also varies in relation to the amount of the retirement pension.

You can make a once-only choice for variable pension. You must notify the Pension Fund of your choice no later than 2 months before your deferred pension is scheduled to commence. To that end, the form titled 'Final pension choices' is available.
